Umm...Yeah...I'm going to need you ta post on the blog

Yep, you guessed it. Its Worthy's turn to post again. The family blog comes to a screeching halt whenever it is "my turn" to post. So, rather than hold things up and be my obstinate, rebellious self I think I will post.

As I think most of you know, Morgan has discovered the dramatist blood in her veins. She loves drama almost to a fault. It has consumed her life lately. She is quite gifted. In my humble opinion, she is really quite good. She took 2nd at Region Competition and was the only Freshman to get a Superior medal at State (they don't compete at State anymore, I have my own opinions about that but I won't voice them here).

Anyway, the reason I share that bit of background is to share a pretty funny story that happened to the Glover family in association with Morgan's State Drama Festival. As you may or may not know, Morgan's Drama Coach is a classmate of mine. We went to school together and were deeply involved in drama together. She has been pretty excited with the discovery of Morgan and it has been fun to offer my support to my former classmate.

For a couple of weeks Morgan's Coach and her assistant had been teasing Morgan that I was going to chaperon the trip to State Drama. When Morgan asked if I was going I initially played along and teased her that I was. But, eventually told her that I was just teasing her and had no plans to attend State Drama with her.

A couple of days before the team departed I sat down at an event with Mom and she told me that Dad was going to State with the team. I asked how that happened and she said that they just called and asked if he would be willing to drive the set/prop truck for the team and he said yes. I told Mom it must have been a mistake, that I was certain they thought they were asking me and got him instead. I decided not to rectify things and let Dad go.

Sure enough later that week I ran into the assistant coach and she fell on the ground laughing when she told me that Julie (the Coach) made the call, hung up the phone than turned to her and said, "I think I just asked Worthy Sr. not Jr. to go with us and he said 'yes'."

The drama kids were all dumbfounded, asking what kind of person says yes to a request from a total stranger when asked to serve in this way. I told everyone who asked me that that is the kind of person Dad is. He is willing and ready to serve at a moment's notice. He is a great man, who will give you the shirt off his back if he feels you are in need. He didn't even hesitate. He just agreed and went for it.

Needless-to-say he had a great time. He hung out with those kids for the weekend and really was energized by their vim and vigor for life. I was glad he went cause he was able to keep an eye on Morgan and make her boyfriend nervous. He was able to watch each of Morgan's performances and all-in-all I think made some very positive memories with his grand-daughter. Maybe next year Dad and I can go together and show those drama kids how to really party!

Thanks Dad for being the kind of man that would do this and thanks for keeping an eye on my daughter while she was away from home.

I must be out of the loop but Morgan has a boyfriend? We need the 411 girl. I am glad she enjoys drama and has a wonderful grandpa who enjoys serving others and spending time with his grandchildren.

I'm sure Dad had a blast. I wish he had chaperoned some of my drama trips, he would have been way more fun than any of the mean ladies we usually had. Yay for drama! I can honestly say it is responsible for where I am now, and I am pretty happy with where I am now.

I suppose I should clarify the "boyfriend" statement. She has a boy that occupies every waking minute of her time. He texts her every minute and when she isn't at home she is likely with him. She hasn't admitted that he is her boyfriend but they have a serious infatuation for one another. She thinks he's hot. I don't, but I will likely have issues with any boy who shows interest in my daughter.

Umm...yeah, I think I saw Morgan with said boyfriend recently. How do you stand it? I am sooo not ready to have a teenager at my house (oh, wait. I already do. At least his girlfriend doesn't know about his infatuation with her.) Good luck with that. And congrats to Morgan and her drama buddies. And kudos to Dad for being an excellent chaperone.

Sounds just like something your dad would do. He is one of the most unselfish, caring individuals I have ever known. How blessed all of us are for having him in our lives!

I agree with Tim - Boyfriend?
