On Wednesday, Garrett went with the Blanding 5th ward youth to the temple in Monticello. Britt always goes to the temple with the youth in his capacity as a member of the bishopric. I got to go with them to be there for Garrett's first time. I even got to participate, as well as Britt of course. I don't know how much is appropriate to post on the internet. Anyway, while we were waiting to begin, we realized we did not have enough priesthood brethren to proceed. Then, Dad walked through the temple doors. He was there for the Navajo language session, but Britt convinced him to join us. It was such a special experience. I am so glad Dad was there. I am so grateful Britt honors his priesthood and is worthy to perform those sacred ordinances in the temple. I am also grateful and pleased that Garrett is so excited about holding the priesthood and participating in temple ordinances.
Sunday, Garrett passed the sacrament for the first time in church. I watched him anxiously as a mother does. He did his best, with a little help from the other brethren performing the same duty. Garrett was actually the only Aaronic Priesthood holder passing the sacrament. The rest included his dad and the men who serve as leaders of the young men. We have a very small number of young men in our ward. Garrett is actually the only deacon and will be for several months still.
He is excited to pass the sacrament again. I reminded him next week is stake conference, so he will have to wait another week. After he sat down with our family on Sunday, he was telling Olivia to watch for him next time when he passes the sacrament. It was really sweet. Like I said, he is excited.
The painter is supposed to be painting our house this week. The house is entirely bricked, and they should be doing the stucco this week. I will posst more pictures on my site when there is more to show. BTW, we still have building lots, i.e. investment property, available for sale (hint, hint ; )
