Life is a Highway

And I have been riding it for the last four days. On Britt's brother, Jesse's Harley Davidson motorcycle. It has really been a great ride. Exhausting, but fun. A lot like life. We left Blanding on Sunday after church. We stayed at Tim and Nancy's that night (thanks again, you guys). Monday morning, we headed up Provo Canyon, onto I-80 to Evanston to Bear Lake, and finally to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. That was a nice drive. We actually stayed in an old hotel in Teton Village near the ski resorts west of Jackson Hole. So we didn't go into Jackson--I'm a little sad about that, but after all the waits from construction and weird lights coming into Jackson, I just needed to be off the motorcycle.

Spent some time in the Grand Teton National Park on Tuesday, and then up through Yellowstone. We saw a bear while waiting in construction, but it was high up on the hillside. Other than that, we didn't see a lot of animals, even when we went into Yellowstone. We watched Old Faithful, and had an ice cream cone there. We checked out the old lodge there which has been renovated. It used to just sit empty. It is amazing what they have done there. I will post some pictures of that on my blog when we get home. We also saw bison, elk, and a bald eagle that day.

We would like to see a moose, but we didn't see any today. We saw some beautiful waterfalls and the Yellowstone Lake is so massive, it almost looked like the ocean, if it didn't have mountains behind it. Today we toured some parts of the park I have never seen, and they were unique and amazing. We were stuck in traffic behind a bison just moseying down the road in front of a long line of cars, winding down the mountain. It was crazy. Pictures later. We also saw some incredible views coming out of the east entrance to the park into Cody, Wyoming.

Tomorrow is Bear Tooth Pass up into Montana, and then back down to Cody. After that, Friday and Saturday, Britt and I will head toward home as quickly as we can. We miss our kids. Thanks, Mom and Jennifer for taking care of them for us.

There is a lot going on this summer, too. I think Garrett will need to post and tell you about all the fun things he is doing. Love you all. Time for me to crash.
