Miscellaneous

Yay! Mom is blogging!
Tyler being patriotic for the Veteran's day program

When I come around the corner from my bedroom to the living room in the morning (after the kids have gone to school) this is the view I see. It just makes me happy. This picture doesn't do it justice. One of the best things about our new house is the views. We live in a beautiful place.

The view from the front window of our house growing up was also one of my favorites. That is what I would love to have a painting of. It still makes me happy, when we are visiting, just to step outside and see that mountain with the trees and fields in the foreground every time. Even though I thought I hated living in the middle of nowhere, I always enjoyed that view. How blessed we are.

I always told myself Rachel's hair was too thick to attempt doing lots of little braids. But she let me try it. Even though she wanted me to quit half way through, we did it. It turned out pretty cute, and lasted a few good days. I am glad we thought to take a picture.

Did you see Garrett's post on his blog about the 10k? Here are some more pictures of that:

He is doing middle school wrestling now. Most of the kids he wrestles are at least 8 pounds heavier than him. He is learning a lot, and getting stronger all the time. I have personally seen him pin a couple of his opponents. And I have witnessed other matches, where he battled all three rounds not to be pinned. So, while his opponents won by points, they did not get the pin. He is a fighter. Also maintaining a B average. Which I think is great.

Still don't have any pictures of Cole with his artwork. He just participated in "The Long Walk" at the elementary school, a hike that signifies when the Native Americans were driven from their homes. He dressed as a cowboy, and even created his own powder horn, made from a real buffalo horn. Thanks, Grandpa Worthy for helping him get it done in time. Wish I had thought to take a picture. Look at this, sometimes he is the nice big brother.

The sad part of our story is Dixie, our dog, is gone. She has been missing over a month now. She had started wandering a lot, so we had started to keep her tied up. One morning, Britt had let her in the garage at night. He left early to go to work, and she bolted out of the garage. We never saw her again. She had always come back, so I just kept thinking she would show up, but she never did. We miss her.

Life is good for the Bartons. We look forward to hosting some of you at our house this Thanksgiving. Love you all.

We are so fortunate to live in a place where you have an unobstructed view 50-80 miles, and the air is clear too!
It makes us happy to see and hear about all the different activities of your very different individual children. Thanks for the post!

I'm in SLC right now. It's nice to escape to the big city, but I will never feel at home anywhere without my Blanding sunsets and stars.

I love trampoline pictures. Sorry to hear about your dog, that really stinks.
